What is Rotary?
100 year old worldwide charitable organization of business and professional leaders providing humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations, and building goodwill and peace worldwide.
Approximately 33,000 clubs in 167 countries.
Local projects include:
- Habitat for Humanity houses built throughout King County.
- Westside Babies provides cribs and supplies for improverished families.
- River City Skate Park for youth in South Park.
- Free full-color high quality dictionaries provided to Concord Elementary 3rd grade students.
- Post-High School Scholarships and Student of the Month recognition awards for Aviation High School seniors (Highline District) and Opportunity Skyway Air Academy honor roll (Seattle Public School District).
- Rotary First Harvest sorts and packs donated food for food banks.
- Adult Literacy and ESL classes are offered in White Center.
International Projects:
- Sister Schools is our adopted program with exchanges between Western Washington schools and Uganda schools and orphanages.
- Polio eradication worldwide is Rotary's best known and highly successful initiative in psrtnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
- Key initiatives include clean water projects and worlwide efforts focused on promoting Peace through humanitarian grants and educational programs.
